A heroes journey

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
Somewhere along the line we developed skills that help us navigate and survive.
For many of us one of the skills we developed was to tell ourselves a story about who we are.
For many of us, me included, we (or definitely someone we know) became the victims.
We learned that to have a victim, there also has to be a villain and a hero, but in the end we were reliant on others to confirm our narrative.
But what do we do when we have to face the hard truth that we have been creating our own character.
That’s not to say that we weren’t genuine victims, but it’s what we did or do moving forward.
We see others that have overcome so much and accomplish so much, and we marvel at how!
Do they have something we don’t? Are they better than us?
The answer is a definite no.
We don’t all start from the same starting line, but how we run the race is up to us.
If we wear the victim mask, we will attract either the villain or the hero, but no matter what, we’ll be reliant on others.
But when we take off the mask and start believing we are the victors, we attract the guides.
We in turn can then guide, and ultimately our purpose is to help others.
That’s the magic.
So, ask yourself honestly, who are you in your story?
